Junior Archery

Frome Town Archers has a thriving Junior Archery Club. We meet every Saturday between 10 am and midday.

The club has GNAS certified coaches to supervise and support you as you learn.  They will be able to guide you as you progress and provide you with the opportunity to compete in major competitions.

So, if you are aged between 8 and 18 years and would like to join FTA’s Junior Club and practise an Olympic sport, then contact chris@frometownarchers.org

It is a FTA requirement that one or both of your parents must accompany you on your visits to the club.  Why not suggest they join, too?

Somerset County Championships & Regional Championships – Saturday 9.7.11
Two members of Frome Town Archers Junior section travelled to Burnham to take part in the County and Regional Championships on July 9th. It was their first formal competition with many archers from Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and
Somerset also taking part.

Elise Powis, competing in the Girls under 12’s event, shot a Bristol V (30 yards, 20 yards and 10 yards). She
scored a total of 937 points and received the GNAS black award. Elise won first places in the Somerset County Championships and also the winner’s star in the Regional Championships.

Kate Webley competed in the Girls under 14’s and shot a Bristol IV (40 yards, 30 yards and 20 yards). With the blustery conditions affecting flight at longer distances, she shot excellently to score 802 points, and received the GNAS white award.

Club coach Chris Gilburt said, “This was a tremendous result with both girls achieving 1st Class scores.  To illustrate the level of competition, Kate scored 52 out of 54 for one of her rounds and Elise scored the maximum. We really look forward to building on these successes next year.”
